Cleaning

Recommendation: Before initial use, please clean the glass column tube and connections to remove any potential residues from the manufacturing process. Conventional detergents or laboratory-grade cleaning agents can be used for cleaning. Our glass column tubes can also be sterilized at high temperatures.

Installing the Fixed End

1.First, ensure the threads on the glass tube and the fixed end cap are free of debris and burrs to prevent damage during installation.

2.Thoroughly wet the O-ring seal with the mobile phase or a suitable solvent.

3.Gently and slowly insert the fixed end with the column bed support vertically into the column tube, maintaining alignment throughout the process. Avoid any angled insertion to prevent damage to the seal and the end of the glass tube.

Column Packing

After completing the steps above, the column can now be packed with chromatography media. As there are numerous types of media available, each with potentially different requirements, we recommend packing the column according to the media manufacturer's instructions.
We have pre-printed the column bed's cross-sectional area and height markings on the column tube to facilitate the calculation of bed volume and height during packing. The scale intervals are 10 mm. We have also printed the pressure resistance of the column tube. The scales we provide are for reference only.

注：通常在使用時柱床高度會略有下降，我們建議裝柱時可將適配器的柱塞調節到略低于柱床沉降后的高度。

Adapter installation

1.First, ensure the glass tube and the fixed end cap are undamaged.

2.Close the column outlet to prevent the column bed from drying out.

3.Adjust the liquid level in the column tube to be at least 1-2 cm above the top of the column bed.

4.Screw the adjustment nut and the fixed cap on the adapter together down close to the frit.

5.Thoroughly wet the O-ring seal and the frit with water, ensuring no air bubbles are trapped in the frit.

6.Gently push the adapter vertically into the glass tube until the fixed cap can be screwed onto the glass column tube. 7.Ensure the entire operation is performed in a straight line.

8.After tightening the fixed cap, unscrew it by approximately 15°. Please avoid over-tightening the fixed cap.

Hold the fixed cap and slowly turn the adjustment nut counterclockwise to lower the adapter plunger to the required position within the column tube.
Note: The bed height often decreases slightly during use. We recommend adjusting the adapter plunger to a position slightly below the settled bed height after packing.

Column Connecting

The 1/4''-28 fittings on the tubing we supply are specifically designed for connecting to the column tube end cap. You can add a fitting compatible with your chromatography system to the other end of the tubing.

請避免O型-密封圈上殘留有如IPA這類的有機溶劑，否則其會溶解密封圈，并使其粘連在柱管內壁。

Column Storage

If storing an empty column, simply rinse it thoroughly with clean water. If packed with media, it can also be stored in 20% ethanol.
Avoid leaving organic solvents (such as IPA) on the O-ring seals, as they can dissolve the seals and cause them to stick to the inner wall of the column tube.

4、 有時填料或使用的溶劑可能會殘留在 O型密封圈上，導致適配器移動困難，此時可以將層析柱放入冰箱冷藏室數個小時，這樣有助于移動適配器。

Precautions

1.The threaded parts of the glass tube are relatively fragile. During installation, try to avoid angled forces and handle gently.

2.When installing the adapter, ensure the O-ring is thoroughly wetted. Otherwise, friction between the seal and the column tube may increase, making axial compression difficult and potentially damaging the seal.

3.If replacing the frit, we recommend using our specialized tool for frit removal to avoid damaging the adapter end.

4.Sometimes media particles or used solvents may remain on the O-ring, making the adapter difficult to move. Placing the column in a refrigerator for several hours may facilitate adapter movement.
